BSNL targets 250,000 subscribers by the end WiMax

A senior BSNL has revealed that the company plans to have a user base of at least 250,000 customers of WiMAX in the second half of 2010.

The intentions were revealed in an interview with Telecom Yatra that has the unnamed official also that currently the basis of BSNL WiMAX user has only 3,000 users. The state provider of telecommunications services has recently launched WiMax services in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh and has 210 base stations in the north and spread east India. BSNL proposes to market its WiMax services in the urban centers of Kerala and Punjab start next month.

This is apart from the 1000 base stations in rural areas are also set to be taken next month in operation. It seems that BSNL has big plans for the wireless broadband segment. Growth in this sector, however, is directly proportional to the impulse that BSNL is in the creation of a robust WiMAX network. Then there is the factor of price, so decide whether BSNL will really be able to reach their target customer base of 250,000 subscribers by the end of the year
